In Memory of a Loved One: A Heartfelt Tribute Poem- Aunty Jane

Today, we reflect on what has happened.
We’ve lost such an amazing, beautiful Mum, Sister, Daughter, Aunty, Niece, Cousin, Granddaughter, best friend and Queen.

The youngest sibling, yet one who appeared to be the eldest.
With her wise words, her strong presence and her ability to believe in and uplift others.

Aunty Jane was such a special individual.
She made do; she found ways to get what she needed.
She was a fighter and a lover,
She fought for what and who she loved.

Her outspokenness may have turned heads,
But her words were always true.
She always spoke her truth.

Her soul was like fire, with such a warm presence.
Her bubbliness, her happiness, her energy — always positive.
She was a leader, for sure.
The only time she would follow was to learn.

She enjoyed growing as a person and knowing herself.
The confidence she had was breathtaking.
She had her down days, but she kept going.
Music was her remedy.

A strong woman, and I know that through our pain,
She’ll probably be shaking her head,
Saying, “Wipe your tears, I’m still here.
I can hear everything you are saying.”

Her pain went on for far too long, so we have to remember that she is now at rest.

She fought until God granted her peace.
She fought until her parents wanted to hold their baby again.
She fought until the Heavens wanted her healed.

We have lost such an important and blessed person at such a young age,
But she is living her life in her next chapter.

She is forever in our hearts and minds,
So let’s smile and be colourful, because:

Unconditional love cannot be broken, no matter the distance…

We don’t say goodbye, but see you again, Aunty Jane.
