For me, it’s pure magic. There’s something about the way animated movies bring stories to life that strikes a chord deep in my heart. The blend of motion animation, storytelling, music, and visuals is truly breathtaking. Whether it’s the vibrant colors of a Disney Pixar classic or the quirky brilliance of Sony Pictures’ latest hit, these films have a way of making us laugh, cry, and reflect on life in the most unexpected ways.
What truly elevates the experience, though, is sharing it with my family. There’s something special about sitting together, popcorn in hand, and being whisked away to another world. Here are a few of our favorite quotes and songs from the top five animated movies on our watchlist:
1. ENCANTO
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this one and yes, I’m still gutted I didn’t catch it in theaters.

Love and hope, after all, are more than enough to hold a family together.
2. COCO

Miguel is such a sweet, determined boy! Watching his journey in Coco as he chases his love for music; despite family opposition—is inspiring. Along the way, he uncovers his family’s history, reigniting precious memories for his beloved Nana Coco.
This Pixar masterpiece is an emotional rollercoaster, reminding us to cherish our loved ones, pursue our passions, and live a life full of harmony and balance. It’s a beautiful reminder that family ties transcend time, and those we’ve lost are always with us.
3. TURNING RED

Mei Mei is our girl! This witty and fearless teenager navigates the highs and lows of adolescence while honoring her family and finding her own identity. Turning Red is a brilliant exploration of the push and pull between tradition and self-expression.

The first time I saw Elemental was in the cinema with my sister, son, and nephew, and wow, the visuals were breathtaking. This heartwarming story of opposites attracting is as stunning as it is poignant.
Set in the wonderfully diverse Elemental City, the film teaches us about acceptance, love, and the beauty of differences. Whether you’re a fiery Ember or a cool Wade, love is all about finding common ground and building something special together.
5. THE MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES
“We all want to be the perfect family, but who’s perfect, right?”
This Sony Pictures gem is a hilarious yet heartfelt tale about the chaos of family life. The Mitchells are quirky, dysfunctional, and oh-so-relatable, but their love for each other shines through every wild adventure.
