OUR TOP SIX CHRISTMAS MOVIES 2023

Home Alone

“Keep the change, you filthy animal.”

If you don't know who Kevin McAllister (played by Macaulay Culkin) and the wet bandits are (played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) you're about to find out.

It is a heartfelt yet comedic film, about a young boy who is accidentally left home alone on Christmas! There are challenges he has to face and I must say, he held his own, when it came to defeating those burglars. Those wet bandits surely went through the motions, when Kevin put his plan on capturing them into action! Well done Kevin!

Jingle All The Way

“It's Turbo Time.”

Who doesn't love a good jingle? This is such a touching yet funny film to get those emotions racing. You will have “Aww bless” and “that's cheeky” moments. Jingle All The Way, is a 1996 comedy/family film about a busy salesman (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), who forgets to pick up the most wanted Christmas toy for his son (a turbo man).

So what does he have to do? He finds himself running all over town (literally) competing with other parents, to find this famous action figure. This film will definitely fill you with some good belly laughs, getting you jingling all the way!

Jingle Jangle

“I’ve always worked. Just needed someone to believe.”

After being betrayed by his apprentice, Jeronicus a brilliant, kind and once joyful toy maker (played by Forest Whitaker), finds new profound hope in his passions and dreams, when his beautiful, intelligent and shining granddaughter Journey (played by Madalen Mills) arrives on his doorstep!

It's such an uplifting yet touching film, that reflects the impact of what rekindling of relationships and friendships can bring. Sometimes we can lose ourselves when we’ve lost someone we’ve lost or have been betrayed, but this film brings hope and faith, that there is a silver lining waiting for us all. This will definitely fill your hearts with warmth and wonder! Such a magical film.

ELF

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."

Who said size matters? Buddy (played by Will Ferrell) is a boy who is adopted and raised as an Elf, by Papa Elf in the North Pole, who learns (in his adult life) that his biological Father lives in New York City.

So what is he do? He ventures through the mountains, the snow and cities, to find his father Walter Hobbs, who is on the naughty list! (played by James Caan).

There is a lot of ups and downs, but it just reminds me, that no family is perfect. However, patience, listening and understanding goes a long way.

This film, will have you; singing, laughing and feeling for Buddy on his journey. Definitely a must watch!

How the grinch stole Christmas

"I'm all toasty inside."

On the outskirts of Whoville, we meet the green and revengeful Grinch, with the help of his cute, clever and best companion (his dog Max) plans to ruin Christmas for all of the citizens of the town.

Why? Because the Whoville’s obsession with their elegant decorations and festive cheer, sparks unwanted and painful memories from his childhood, leaving him feeling resentment and with hatred for Christmas!

This film reminds us; that if we're lucky enough in life, to have one person believe in us, we have to hold onto them dearly and appreciate them always.

In this case, for The Grinch, it was a young girl, called Cindy Lou (played by the sweet, thoughtful Sabrina Carpenter) who makes it her mission, to bring the Grinch down from his place of solitude, to take part in the towns pre-christmas festivities. Although it doesn't go according to plan, there is a turn around.

All I can say, is well done Jim Carrey! He plays The Grinch exceptionally well!

Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas

“The difference between a broken heart and a smile, is you.”

Wow, Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas is such a beautiful and magical film. The first time I watched it with my family, it just made me smile. From the animation, to the storylines, it is truly breathtaking.

It has my husband's favourite Disney characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto) from his childhood and what we enjoyed about this film, are the lessons throughout.

There are three tales, from Mickey and his friends, who share their best memories of Christmas, in their own way. All three views, were very meaningful and it reminds us that Christmas is more than a holiday. It is about; family, friendships, love and making one another happy (not with gifts, but being in one another's presence and making memories) and this quote stuck with me.

“Christmas is found in the way that we live by, not what we receive, but by what we give”

It reminds us; to always be grateful for what and who we have in our lives and that alone is treasurable.

If you haven't watched any of the above, I would definitely recommend them and I would love to hear what your top Christmas films are!

Merry Christmas!xx
