I Wish

I wish the days of little feet playing in the park,

Made their footraces again in the golden sand.

I wish the days of angelic voices,

Filled with happiness and laughter, riveted again through the streets.

I wish the roads would go back to the community spirit, they were raised upon,

Playing the games, that made us one.

I wish the friends and family, we’ve lost along the way,

Would still be here, partying to dawn.

I wish I could smell the traces of my Grandparent’s cooking, and hear the sweet music they played one last time,

For they had beautiful taste.

I wish the men and women could see their worth,

As the Kings and Queens they are.

I wish the clock could rewind, fast forward, standstill, rewind,

As we divert and retrace, the journey of our time.
